Art Exhibition: "Frames of Consciousness"
Ermias Ekube’s art exhibition “Frames of Consciousness” opened on Friday, February 1, at The Gallery in Asmara. Ermias described this show as an extension of his 2003 work “Dreams of Consciousness.” In both, his goal was “to see consciousness through different frames.”
The current exhibition was partially sponsored by the Pubic Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy, Asmara. The opening festivities began with a traditional piece of music known as “Emblta,” a sign of good wishes. The evening featured Tigrinya poetry reading, music, and an audience intrigued by this accomplished artist’s new artistic expressions, both sculptural and painterly.
Ms. Jennifer McIntyre, the Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy in Asmara, greeted the crowd and described Ermias as a “very accomplished artist, whose work unveils a full range of artistic expression.” She congratulated Ermias for this major one-person show which will run through Monday, February 11, 2008.
