The Democracy and Human Rights Fund

The Democracy and Human Rights Fund (DHRF) of the United States Embassy in Eritrea provides financial assistance to small-scale activities that support democratic institutions, promote political pluralism, and protect and advance human rights. The United States Embassy provides grants to organizations or government bodies in support of civil society and democratic institutions.  Projects must be: small and focused, lead to concrete change or increase awareness be completed in one year and need only one-time assistance.

The grants, usually ranging from US$1,000 to US$20,000, supplement the groups’ own contributions of money, material and time.
