Educational Exchange
Humphrey Fellowships
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program is a prestigious non-degree exchange program which brings accomplished professionals from developing countries to the United States at a mid-point in their careers for a year of study and related practical experience. Grantees are nominated based on their potential for leadership and commitment to public service. By providing future leaders with experience in U.S. society, culture and professional fields, the program provides a basis for lasting ties between Americans and their professional foreign counterparts. Awards are given competitively to public and private sector professionals with a commitment to public service in broadly defined fields. Fellows are placed by the Institute of International Education at selected universities which offer a broad base of coursework and related professional activities.
Pre-requisites
Applicants must be Eritrean citizens who have fluent English language skills (TOEFL score of 600 or above) and must hold a Bachelor's degree or higher, at least five years of substantial professional experience, and a record of superior performance. They should be professionals in leadership positions who have potential for advancement in their chosen profession.
Grant Benefits
Fellows are provided with round trip international travel, university tuition and fees, books, and a monthly maintenance allowance for the duration of the program. In order to maximize limited funding for programs, home institutions are encouraged to help defray travel costs.
