Public Affairs Specialist Celebrated International Women's Day with Eritrean Women

Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist Julie McClanahan and Embassy Asmara Public Diplomacy staff participated in the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2009. The event was held at Kehi Bahri Secondary school in Asmara with women representatives from all nine Eritrean ethnic groups, as well as top female graduates from secondary schools. The colorful event was celebrated with different activities such as drama, poetry, and songs. Eritrean women were reminded and honored for their equitable role in the armed struggle. Embassy Asmara Public Diplomacy was pleased to donate books to be given as an award to the girls with the highest academic scores in the secondary schools in the central zoba.
