The women at discussion |
The U.S. Embassy hosted the second monthly Women’s Roundtable meeting on May 15, 2008. Following the meeting’s opening by the chairperson, the group discussed this month’s topics of breast cancer and U.S. environmental author Rachel Carson. On the subject of breast cancer, the group discussed the disease and prevention based on information gleaned through international media. The Embassy agreed to arrange for a health professional to share his/her knowledge on breast cancer at a follow-on meeting. During the second half of the event, the women focused their discussion on U.S. author Rachel Carson’s efforts for environmental protection, based on excerpts of Ms. Carson’s writings.
The Women’s Roundtable meets one Thursday a month and is open to any woman in the public. For more information, contact the America Center.
